Installation of the Sequential / Chase blinker, 1968 Shelby
A) Test blinker operation:
Observe lights on the left and right side to make sure all lights work.
Remove luggage compartment trim.
B) Driver side connections:

Disconnect taillight connector from main wiring harness.
Plug the Sequence / Chase unit between factory connectors.
C) Passenger side connection:

Disconnect taillight connector from main wiring harness.
Plug the Sequence / Chase unit between factory connectors.

D)
Connect power:
Locate
trunk light wire and follow it until you find the bullet connector.
Disconnect this connector and install the Red and Blue wire in between. This
provides power to the unit.

E) Ready for test:
With right turn signal on (NOTE some lights might not be working at this time) using a small object (ball point pen) push the black button located in the access hole of the Sequence/ Chase unit. This puts it in Calibration mode.
All three lights should blink together two or more times (depending on how long the button is pushed) and then start Sequence/ Chase or all three lights depending on selected mode.
Now turn on the Passenger side signal and the right side should calibrate itself after three flashes. NOTE: Make sure to pause for a second with the blinker switch on the off position before turning on the passenger side blinker. This is because of the bimetallic flasher used back then!
Following the chart on Sequence / Chase unit you can select between Sequence, Chase, or Factory (all 3 lights together). Depends on your taste.
F) Install Electronic Flasher:
Use included Electronic Flasher and direction sheet and install Electronic Flasher.
G) Changing mode of operation:
NOTE: Reference to access hole assumes hole is facing you, flange is on
the bottom side, and wire loom is to your left.
For CHASE, remove any jumper that is in a vertical orientation. To
store the jumper you can replace it in a horizontal plane on either of
the two jumpers. ![]()
For SEQUENCE, place jumper on the right two pins in a vertical
plane.
For FACTORY (all 3 lights together), place the jumper on the left
two pins in a vertical plane. .
NOTE: If changing from factory to another mode
you must calibrate both left and right sides. In short the unit will be in
the calibrate mode after removal, all you will need to do is to let the left
and then right side blinkers cycle a minimum three times and your done
NOTE: Factory and Sequence will work good with factory bimetallic flasher (blinker CAN). It does not work very well with the CHASE option because the duration on the off cycle is less than that of the on cycle. In short, the CHASE will not complete it's cycle before the turn signal starts again. The fix is an electronic flasher.
Electronic flasher can be bought from me or other sites. You can also buy one from Ford (2000 Ford Mustang) and modify it. No need to cut wires!
NOTE: Electronic Flasher can be used on other cars with the Bi-metallic flasher "Flasher CAN" if you are modifying this kit.
