OK, I picked up my Heidts IFS today (5/23/06) from Sachse Rod Shop, Inc. 3904 Miles
Rd. Sachse, TX 75048 (972) 495-1557. Mike M. was the sales guy. You can find more
info at www.sachserodshop.com I thought it would be one big box but no it's a
bunch of different size boxes. I must say it intimidating looking at all the parts
spread across the garage floor.
We started 5/20/06 and had it rolling with engine on 5/31/06. A lot quicker than
I or Sachse Rod Shop thought we could do it. My brother and I feel we could now do
it in a week now. That's driving it after a weeks time. I also added rear disk brakes,
this took me awhile because I had to bend brake lines (make some) add residual pressure
things and a proportional valve. Also a lot of forgotten details.
I have some pictures removing the old shock tower.
OK, don't look at my welds.
OK, the steering angle is a little extreme thanks to me. I lost the instructions
so went with what would give more engine room not knowing what will be installed
in the engine bay years down the road. UPDATE: Now I have been driving the car you
can definitely feel this extreme angle. The problem is the steering will be easy
then get hard and then easy again. This is because U-joints with hard angles (on
the non driven side) will speed up and slow down as it's rotated. I can still fix
this problem but will wait because I might use a larger engine later.
Below; OK, I did not forget the bell housing. Give me some credit man! It was about
11:00pm and we had no clutch alignment tool so the next best think is what will be
there right! A little heavy for a clutch alignment tool but why not.
